Common Telehealth Conditions
We understand that you want to stay home when you’re feeling under the weather or dealing with a chronic condition. The following are common conditions that Dr. Dugan can treat with a home visit or over the phone with a telehealth consultation.
The common cold or the flu can hit at any moment. The flu is a respiratory condition that affects the lungs, throat, and nose. It often causes patients to experience a fever, sore throat, headaches, and a runny nose. The common cold, on the other hand, can be one of more than 200 different viruses that affect the chest, nose, and throat. Less severe than the flu, the common cold is often characterized by sneezing, coughing, and a running nose.
Patients who are experiencing cold and flu-like symptoms can get the care they need from the comfort of their own homes with Dr. Dugan’s telehealth visits. In the event you feel you may need extra care for your cold or flu-like symptoms, Dr. Dugan can also arrange a house visit to get you the care you need.
Hypertension or high blood pressure, is a common condition among men and women in adulthood. Blood pressure is a measurement of the pressure against the walls of the blood vessels that transport blood throughout the body. When a patient has high blood pressure, they are at an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, or a heart attack. Hypertension is often called a “silent killer” as patients who experience high blood pressure may not experience symptoms outside of minor lapses of dizziness or shortness of breath.
Keeping your blood pressure at a healthy level can often require the use of medication and/or a special diet. We are proud to offer telehealth services to patients who wish to manage their blood pressure with lab testing and medication on their own time and at their own convenience.
Diabetes occurs when a person’s blood glucose (sugar) levels are too high. There are two types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. Type 1 diabetes is more common among children and occurs when the pancreas produces little to no insulin. Type 2 diabetes, more common in adults, occurs when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin and the cells of the body respond poorly to insulin. In both cases, the pancreas is not producing enough insulin, or not using insulin in the way it should.
Dr. Dugan offers his telehealth services to patients who need care for their diabetes and diabetes treatment plan. This includes medication management and regular blood work conducted with convenient home visits.
Obesity can be accompanied by a variety of health conditions including diabetes. However, losing weight can often feel like an impossible task for many of our patients. Dr. Dugan is proud to work with a team of nutritionists and fitness specialists to provide patients with comprehensive weight loss plans at an affordable price.
High cholesterol is a condition that refers to an unhealthy amount of cholesterol found in the blood. Cholesterol is a fat-like substance that can be found in the blood, cells, and bodily tissues. While cholesterol is often consumed in the food we eat, most of the cholesterol in the body is made by the liver. Patients with a high level of cholesterol in their blood may not experience any symptoms. However, it’s important to ensure your cholesterol levels are in a healthy range to lower risk of developing heart disease in the future.
Patients with high cholesterol may find themselves at odds when trying to manage their diet and medication. In the event you find yourself in need of some guidance, Dr. Dugan is ready and available. Offering both home visits and convenient telehealth services, Dr. Dugan offers services such as lab testing and medication management so you can get you the help you need to ensure your cholesterol stays at a healthy level.
As men get older, it’s common for their testosterone levels to dip. This lowering of testosterone tends to begin between the ages of 30 to 40 and continues to deplete over the following years. This process is often referred to as andropause. Low testosterone levels can contribute to a long list of unwanted symptoms including decreased muscle mass, hair loss, weight gain, and mood changes.
Dr. Dugan understands that supplementing low testosterone levels can feel overwhelming, with visits to your general practitioner, lab testing, and more. Dugan Family Medicine offers all of these services with the convenience of telehealth, allowing you to get your hormone replacement therapy treatments without the lengthy doctor visits.
We all plan to be safe in our intimate moments. However, we understand that accidents happen. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections that are generally passed from one person to another through sexual contact. These infections can cause a variety of symptoms including unusual discharge, burning, and itching in the intimate areas.
Getting treatment for your STI is easier than ever with the help of telehealth services. Dr. Dugan offers treatment plans for a variety of STIs, including PrEP for patients who may have the potential of being exposed to HIV.
